Seven St. Joseph’s Academy seniors have been recognized as semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Another four seniors have been named commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program are Abby Blaize, Anna Borne, Rachael Coates, Amelia Dittmar, Anna Claire LeJeune, Maryn Matthews and Grace Richardson. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2019. Approximately 90 percent of semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
SJA’s commended students for 2019 are Ella Barhorst, Sydney Clebert, Raeann Didier and Anna Myers.
Blaize is the daughter of Marci and Charles Blaize; she attended St. Aloysius. Borne is the daughter of Janine and Manville Borne; she attended St. Thomas More. Coates is the daughter of
Jamie and Kevin Coates; she attended St. Alphonsus. Dittmar is the daughter of Millicent and Edward Dittmar; she attended St. Aloysius. LeJeune is the daughter of Whitney and Rick LeJeune; she attended St. Thomas More. Matthews is the daughter of Alison Matthews and Michael Matthews; she attended St. Thomas More. Richardson is the daughter of Jill Ratcliff and John Richardson; she attended University Laboratory School.
Barhorst is the daughter of Tracey and Brad Barhorst; she attended St. Aloysius. Clebert is the daughter of Kelli and David Corkern and Austin Fontenot; she attended St. Aloysius. Didier is the daughter of Stacie and Keith Didier; she attended Most Blessed Sacrament. Myers is the daughter of Temple Beeson and Lou Fey and Kevin Myers; she attended St. Aloysius.
