Swim Team Wins 19th City Championship

The St. Joseph’s Academy swim team captured its 19th consecutive Capital City Swim League Championship on October 27-28. The two-day meet was held at Crawfish Aquatics.

The Redstickers tallied 468 points to outdistance the 21-team field. Rounding out the top five were University (271 points), Baton Rouge High (255 points), Episcopal (210 points) and Parkview Baptist (205 points).

“What an exciting meet,” said head coach Rebecca Gilbert. “Everyone on our team had a job and executed their duties perfectly. Whether it was in the pool or out, the team worked together and accomplished their goal. Next stop: State!”

The following swimmers scored points towards the team’s total. 

200-yard Medley Relay: Kirby Black, Gabby Joffrion, Isabel Webre and CeCe Werth, 4th place

200-yard Freestyle: CeCe Werth, 4th place; Kirby Black, 5th place; Victoria Godso, 10 place; Caroline Tucker, 12th place

200-yard Individual Medley: Anna Webre, 5th place; Gabby Joffrion, 6th place; Camden Hull, 9th place; Kate Russell, 10th place

50-yard Freestyle: Julia Brinson, 1st place; Amanda Andrews, 2nd place; Claire Bass, 6th place; Madi Ogra, 16th place

100-yard Butterfly: Amanda Andrews, 2nd place; Isabel Webre, 3rd place; Cameron Accardo, 4th place; Anna Webre, 6th place

100-yard Freestyle: Julia Brinson, 3rd place; Gabby Joffrion, 4th place; Claire Bass, 5th place; Lily Martin, 9th place

500-yard Freestyle: CeCe Werth, 1st place

200-yard Freestyle Relay: Julia Brinson, Claire Bass, Anna Webre and Amanda Andrews, 1st place

100-yard Backstroke: Kirby Black, 2nd place; Cameron Accardo, 4th place; Camden Hull, 6th place; Victoria Godson, 10th place

100-yard Breaststroke: Isabel Webre, 3rd place; Kate Russell, 5th place; Mary Stuckey, 11th place

400-yard Freestyle Relay: Julia Brinson, Claire Bass, Kirby Black and Amanda Andrews, 1st place

The Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Swimming State Meet will be held November 16-17 at the SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur.
