The senior members of St. Joseph’s Academy’s cheerleading squad were honored during halftime of the January 29 basketball game against McKinley High School. Anne Barton, Marie Claire Dalmau, Anne Marie Gahagan, LeeAnn Lemaire, Anna Claire Rabalais, Ashlynn Sorrells and Logan West were recognized for their dedication to SJA cheerleading.
The seniors were escorted by their parents and presented with flowers from their coach, Chelsea Milazzo, and cheer moderators Lauren Morris and Brooke Haigler.
“I am going to miss this group of seniors so much,” Milazzo said. “They were freshmen during my first year coaching at SJA. We started this journey together four years ago, and they will always be a special class to me. They have always had the best intentions and have expressed leadership over the years. I know they all have amazing futures ahead, and they will always be welcome to come back and visit.”
Morris said she was sad that the seniors’ time as SJA cheerleaders is coming to an end. “This is one of the largest classes of seniors we’ve had,” she said. “These seniors have brought a different sense of closeness and family to our team this year. We’re truly going to miss this wonderful group of girls, but we know they have such bright futures ahead of them.”
