Six St. Joseph’s Academy soccer players were named to the Division I, District 5 All-District soccer team for 2011-2012.
“I could not have asked for a better way to end my last season at St. Joseph’s Academy.” Meaghan Flechas '12
Named to the first team were seniors Jessica Dismukes and Meaghan Flechas and sophomore Rachel Fenner. Named to the second team were senior Maggie Wilkins, sophomore Izzy Gutierrez, junior Emily Krzystowczyck and freshman Brady Moran.
“I feel very honored to be a part of the All-District soccer team,” Dismukes said. “As a team, we all worked very hard this year, and I believe we accomplished much, much more than most initially anticipated from the SJA soccer team. Our playoff games showed our true character and determination, which led to a very successful soccer year for SJA. I would like to thank Coach [Kevin] Landry and the all the players on the soccer team who made my senior year soccer season memorable.”
Flechas said she was honored to be named to the All-District team. “There is so much talent in our district this year, and to be named one of the 17 best players is such an accomplishment, especially since several of the girls selected to this honor with me are continuing their soccer careers at the college level,” she said. “I could not have asked for a better way to end my last season at St. Joseph’s Academy.”
“I’m so excited and proud of all of my teammates who made All-District, especially since we had such a tough district this year,” Fenner said. “Also, there are so many other amazing players on our team who are deserving of this award. I cannot ask for a better way to end a terrific season for SJA soccer.”
