Track Team Off to Fast Start

The St. Joseph’s Academy track and field team is enjoying early success in the indoor season, with six school indoor records set to date. Athletes and their new SJA records follow.

Junior Bria Murray: long jump, 18’-0”

Murray: triple jump, 35’-1”

Junior Briana Golden: shot put, 37’-6”

Junior Claire Hossley, senior Erinn Greenblatt, senior Stephanie Sotile and freshman Annie Peek: 4 x 800m relay, 10:36.50

Senior Alison Arceneaux: pole vault, 10’

Senior Diana Marcantel: high jump, 4’-11”

At the LSU High School Indoor Qualifier Meet on January 23, several additional athletes turned in outstanding performances in these events:

3200m run: freshman Mary Lahaye, 12:45.36, fifth place; freshman Annie Peek, 12:46.95, sixth place
Long jump: junior Bria Murray, 17’-3.50”, fourth place; senior Diana Marcantel, 16’-4.25”, ninth place
Shot put: junior Brianna Golden, 37’-1”, second place

These performances were in addition to the school record-setting performances by Arceneaux, Marcantel, Murray (triple jump) and the 4 x 800m relay team.
