St. Joseph’s Academy junior Marigny Broussard has been selected to participate in this summer’s Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE) Summer Program at the University of Alabama. SITE is open to rising high school juniors and seniors who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is hosted by the university’s College of Engineering.

Weeklong SITE sessions are offered during the month of July. Approximately 40 students are selected to participate in each session.

“SITE is designed to help students see what it would be like to be an engineering student at UA and to explore the different types of engineering,” Broussard said.

SITE participants live in a residence hall, engage in teaming exercises and tour an industrial plant to see engineers at work. They take courses in mathematics, engineering, computer science and English.

“I am really excited about this program to see if I would be interested in going to UA and majoring in an engineering field,” Broussard said.
